i waited for over an hour in line to get a will-call ticket to see this at the provincetown film festival in 2010 and was blown away. tilda swinton was actually there in person to introduce the film! she was amazing, a true icon: stylish, creative, intelligent and honest person. i really enjoyed hearing her speak and having the opportunity to be in the same room with her !!!

@aoasongs Thank you. Finally I understand.

@Doctorcamille It was a russian soup, which recipe was known only by Edoardo and his mother. Edoardo's mother had commented with Antonio about it.

There was a part that I didn't understand. The soup that Antonio prepared and made Eduardo furious and discover the affair between his mother and Antonio. What did Antonio do to the soup that will make Eduardo realise all this ? Someone help me please.

161 people couldn't handle Tilda's nude lovemaking scenes.

its really about breaking conventions, the family and this hierarchy seem to be unbreakable but one simple men managed to break all of this......the daughter turning out to be a lesbian, and her passion for photography, broke the chains with the past! the food as means of communication that arises all the senses, the soup is the symbol of the bond between the son and the mother, in fact its when he realizes that she has an affair with antonio
Definitely worth watching, stunningly gorgeous to look at and listen to. But I kinda felt it wanted to be really important and intelligent and *about something* but it ended up being just a story of a woman who gets tired of her old marriage and has an affair, which isn't all that inspiring for me.
