*Use HD mode for best audio quality* This tutorial screencast shows how to do peak limiting using The Glue, an analog modeled compressor from Cytomic. An A/B comparison is then made to the analog compressor it's based on. http://www.cytomic.com
@hullan666 This video is about peak limiting, but If you are talking about the difference between using the threshold and the range knobs then it's not about the total depth of compression, it's which part of the audio is being compressed. Roughly speaking the threshold adjusts where compression starts to begin, and the range knob adjusts how far past the threshold compression stops, which is really useful for bringing out the detail in the sound. Just grab the trial and have a go yourself!
@andrewsimper But what is the difference between that or just raising the threshold? I've had this feature explained to me a dozens of times but I just don't get it... You dial in an amount of GR with the threshold and then you just back it down again with the range? In my world you set the amount of compression with the threshold on compressors???
Great simple video. Exactly what i wanted to know. Thank you very much

@WillT23 quite possibly to limit peaks!

@WillT23 On an real analog circuit yes, but digital clipping creates unwanted artifacts

Drums are good...but how does it sound on vocals?

why would anyone use a peak limiter? the pure signal with dynamics sounds better.

This is superb :) I love the glue! First compressor plug I've bought since the UAD ones :) Good job Andy :)
