Hacking zunehd has already been done, just recently. Its called ZDK, we can now use C++ and OpenGL ES 2.0 on the Zune HD. Thus the recent release of the Doom port on the Zune HD.

Interestingly enough, i read an article today that stated that the Zune HD will likely get Windows Mobile 7, with Mobile 7 application support, so possibly app developers will just use Windows Mobile 7 SDK to create apps for the Zune HD and phones that will feature the same OS. From what i read beta testing of the Windows mobile 7, should begin in the spring, fairly soon.

XNA, is only for game development, I'm not into game development, i'm seeking a FULL SDK which allows you to have some level of control on the hardware that the Zune has, such as wifi, but the XNA SDK provides no such functions.

Yeah they put a hardcore encryption on it so it'd take you a looong while to get into it.

Unless some of the best hackers take on the Zune HD nothing is going to happen. Do remember Microsoft is a lot better at keeping this protected compared to Apple which had their iPods hacked quite quickly, all i want is an SDK for the Zune HD, which seems microsoft is making little effor to accomplish.
