Found deep in the archives of KCTV5, this is the 6pm newscast when our call letters were KCMO in October of 1959. It's not the entire newscast, but you still get a good idea of how much times have changed! The news anchor is Harold Mack, and the tape was obviously dubbed to VHS at some point. There are some obvious edit points in the clip, and I uploaded it just as I found it.
To the unsung engineer who kept good footage like this.

Awesome! I remember Harold Mack. And Bill Yearout on weather. Names I'd long ago forgotten, but as soon as I saw or heard them on this clip, it brought it back as if it was yesterday. Does anybody remember the name of the KCMO-TV sports anchor back then? This was back when news, weather and sports was each presented as if they were separate programs.
I wish the other KC stations would find some of their old stuff from this era, too.
What an incredible find! Thanks for sharing.

For 1959- this is incredibly advanced in terms of production and presentation- compared to some other stations at that time..
