Um, the parents went to acting school, so they could obviously fake distress. Also, the kid said they did it for a show. He could have just meant the balloon and not the whole fiasco, but it is unlikely. My assumption: HOAX!

Yes this was a lie I was able to tell from the first interview, when the dad had crocodiles tears streaming down his face. We al fell for it for a split moment in time how awful!!!!! Shame on the parent or parents that did this.
