Illegal logging season has started Bhamo district in Kachin State by bribing local Burmese army bases since January. For logging permission, Chinese businessmen in Yunnan province, China bribe Burmese military chief of Kachin State and five army battalions--- LIB No. 319, IB No. 56, IB No. 236, IB No. 105, IB No. 121. Chinese logger said: Maj-Gen Soe Win, commander of Myitkyina-based Northern Command accepted over US$140,000 as bribe from Chinese businessmen in February. Hardwood and illegal teak in Bhamo are transported to China border by Mai Hkawng-Kai Htik-Nongdao route.
