Last week, the Rudd Government decided to reject recommendations by the Productivity Commissions that would see a relaxation of book import restrictions in the hope that it would mean cheaper books for Australian consumers. The backdown by Rudd Government comes after a concerted campaign by authors and publishers alike to oppose the changes.
