  • Earlier he reminded me of Florez; certainly he has his range. But his sound is more open, less nasal, and I can listen to hiim longer without needing a break. Sure, Florez is more the heartthrob and won't suffer in popularity. But for sound give me Brownlee!

  • The best bel canto tenor today - without comparison. Such a rich, warm voice is seldom heard.

  • Am from Nairobi Kenya and i have listened to Pavarotti and carreras domingo, and now Lawrence brownlee man you have a flexible, refined warm tone and keep it up ,you are a role model to me and ill keep listening to your music via youtube .

  • Bravo what a great talented tenor is Lawrence Brownlee!!!...will have him in mind since now on!!! Bravo!!!

  • Meine lange und sehr mühsellige Suche hat nun ein Ende. Ich habe nun eine Pavarotti würdige Stimme gefunden. Offen, dynamisch, warm, großzügig, ausgereift und voller Freude. Bravo Maestro, vielen dank.

    Robert B.

  • @Gary2837 I thought Curtis Rayam who sang for 3 decades brilliant in this repertoire and he was able to sing a wide variety of styles, Bach, Handel,Thomas, Massenet, Mozart,Verdi to Scott Joplin's Treemonisha. Rayam had the beauty, flexibility, technique and a good deal of power in his voice to be one of the Superstar Tenors. He did rise to international prominence substituting for Pavorotti as Idomeneo and singing brilliantly but the Met never used him except as a guest. He now teaches.

  • @bbbartolo Great individuals and voices!!! However, we must always remember "beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

Both have carved out their own spaces and will be remembered as great in their own right. Would love to see and hear them both do something together. Wouldn't that be great!!!! Thanks for posting "coloraturafan".

  • I am amazed at how warm rich and vibrant the voice is, he has a heft and power to the voice that leads me to believe he could do more lyrical roles as well as the bel canto singing he does here. Florez is a very good light Tenor but Brownlee's voice is more flexible and versatile. Rodolfo, Romeo, Nemorino, Edgardo, Nadir all possibilities for him. At last a star Black Tenor at the Met not since George Shirley has any Black Tenor sang major roles there consistently.

  • in such a lyrical voice i haven't heard this warmth before. he clearly follows Pavorottis resonance strategy but with such a light voice comes huge flexibility.

as mentioned before voices with this range are usually thin. Mr Brownlee's, not so!
