Arthur Kirmss "fires up" John Milton's head (ceramic work of art) and recites "The Testament of the Poet" in honor of John Milton.

  • A crown and a tongue sticking out of his head - looks more like the beheaded King Charles I, than like Milton. Milton would cringe to be shown with a crown. This is horrible. If you're going to use symbolism, shouldn't it at least be consistent with the subject matter - particularly when the subject matter is a great artist!

  • Good point. This issue was discussed thoroughly by Milton Scholars on the Milton List. Many initially had the same reaction. When it was fully explained by the artist. they came to accept the Kirmss work as an honest and unique tribute to Milton.

  • Hmm, what would Milton's hometown of London have to say about Williamsburg's claim?
