Did I write this to encourage intelligent debate?
Did I write this to criticise the Greeks?
Did I write this because I regard the Euro as failed joke?
Did I write this because I like to take the piss?
Did I write it because I was inspired by a comedy sketch Sprout sent me?
Take yer pick, it passed a quiet Sunday afternoon

I can't seem to get the hang of economics
It all smoke and mirrors to me
Trillions of dollars going round
Never seeming to touch the ground
I gotta say that it's all Greek to me.

Greece owe 500 billion dollars,
that's 150% of their GDP
So even though they can't pay what they owe
They're being handed loads more dough
I gotta say that it's all Greek to me.
Now Greece needs another 20 billion
To see them through to next weekend
The IMF are seeking assurance
But the Greeks burnt it down for the insurance
I gotta say that it's all Greek to me.

You see the euro is quite like a store card
Sign up and ignore the ARP
You think you're rich and it's spend, spend, spend,
Now you've gotta keep on borrowing to avoid the end
I gotta say that it's all Greek to me.
If Greece was man and not a country
They'd send in the bailiffs to put an end to this spree
To Asset strip the poor old Greek
Well he's got some rather splendid antiques
I gotta say that it's all Greek to me.

So tell me.. what's a Greek earn
Not enough, it's bloody plain to see
For years they lied to borrow more
But still the bankers queue at their door
I gotta say that it's all Greek to me.
It's not just the Greeks that are in the shitter
The Portuguese have sent out a plea
Italy and Spain owe a trillion each
Irelands $900 billion is quite a peach
I gotta say that it's all Greek to me.

Euro debt crisis! Screams the headline.
Bail out the Greeks and pass the chablis
Politicians, Bankers, headless
chicken and assorted wankers
they're all want their bit of me
and it's all Greek
my god it looks bleak
because it all Greek to me.
