The uptake of bacteria by phagocytes is an active process, which requires the triggering of specific receptors on the phagocyte. Fc receptors, which bind antibody-coated bacteria, are one of the receptors capable of triggering phagocytosis.

  • Normally I jump on people who correct pronunciation in youtube comment threads, but I have to agree this particular error is egregious. A soft "a" sound and hard "g" sound are needed here to not completely bastardize the word.

  • Phago is pronounced "fago", as in "fagocytosis" or "fagocytes".
