Two important preconditions needed to create a first-class golf course: An intact piece of nature in an excellent location and a top golf course architect. The Alcanda Golf Club near Alcudia had both. On the one hand there is the terrain covered with olive pine and oak trees directly bordering the sea; then there is the view over the beautiful island of Alcanda with its lighthouse against the backdrop of the mountains. On the other hand, there are the legendary golf course architects, Robert Trent Jones Senior and Junior, who were appointed to design and create the 18-hole golf course. Father and son have produced a course on which every golfer should have played at least once. Typical characteristics for a Trent-Jones golf course are for example the well placed bunkers - 58 in all - positioned at the greens and fairways. Also the challenging greens with their hidden breaks and difficult but fair tee shots. The 18-hole course was opened in 2003. The players enjoy a view over the Bay of Alcudia from almost every hole; a view is at least as spectacular as the golf course itself. The Club de Golf Alcanada is the only golf course on the island directly borders on the sea. Part of the course's logo as well as its name-giver is the lighthouse situated approximately 150m offshore on the Island Alcanda. Every golfer finds tranquility here. The path leads into a small Seitenta which seems to be completely untouched by human hands. Untamed woods lie directly behind the playing lanes. All it needs is a little patience and you can observe pheasants and many other bird species.
