  • I sense some trickery, at 1:32 he puts the new tie rod on (supposedly new) then the rod that it screws into is nice and shiney, wonder what happened? was something stuck that required the whole thing to be replaced? Would the avg person watching this be able to replace that whole part if something was stuck? These are the types of things that should be added to the videos or in the description so we know what we might run into

  • @SaM5246iPhone man, get a life, what are you , some kind of conspiracy nut? The rod is shiny because the old tie rod was screwed over that part, and it remained out of the weather, so it's new and shiny looking when you remove the old tie rod from it.

  • hey scotty should tie rods be changed in pairs i have worn wheel bearings that i'm going to change and i noticed the other day i have one bad inner tie rod on the passenger side and a bad outer on the driver side so should i change all four or just the two? Thanks :D

  • @Ryznrun na, change em out as they wear, radically different bumps are hit on opposite sides.

  • Scotty, where can i get a tie rod puller like you used?i like that but having trouble finding it..one that opens up like that.

  • @skinnyhenry I just googled it and got mine from sears online.

not a conspiracy nut but I just was surprised that it was so shiny, that's why I was wondering if you had to change the whole part, I changed my tie rod out a few hrs ago after seeing your video yesterday, thanks! If you get an impala in maybe you can do a video on changing the EGR valve, those seem to go bad on them

    ***Update

Scotty makes it look easy but sometimes these jobs can get tough. I just changed my tie rod after watching this video. The lower nut was stuck on and the whole assembly broke, meaning I couldn't get any torque on it to loosen it further (when I spun the nut the whole thing spun and vice grips would not grip the top part under the boot)

So I had to saw off the entire bolt with a hand saw!! Mechanics have the tools to finish the job if things go wrong...

  • best video I've seen on this, simple and to the point! About to do this myself if I can find the tool from autozone

  • Great videos Scotty ! Thanks !
