Haha. If you had any sort of reading comprehension. I was not talking about what the plates actually weigh. Since the video quality isn't the best, he saw a mass of weight without defined lines (for each plate) due to the old irons dullness and the video quality.

@J2jud being a dickhead, right? What do your morons think is under the rubber coated plates? Oh, the same iron you clueless moron. Not only do they cost more, look way better, they won't bang up walls nearly as much.
Here's a news flash for you muscle head bozos. A 45 pound plate weights 45 pounds regardless what it is made out of or covered with. What's the matter, you flunk grade school, you think different?

Is that a question or a statement? Or a combination?
There are 3 iron plates on either side of the bar. These aren't your mainstream rubber coated candy weights.
One advantage of a Smith machines is you don't have to worry about balacing the barbell and can actually focus lifting the weight which is afterall the idea. Is a Smith machine better? No, but it sure is safer. Arm position determines which muscles are impacted. You can do a variety of exercies, like bench press, military press, shrugs, squats, etc.. For bench press arms should be a bit wider than shoulders. Too far or close shifts effort to deltoids, triceps.

@willieofroanoke
That was the focus (triceps), as noted directly under the video.
