have you read the hobbit ? gollum just appears in one chapter... the hobbit isn't about the story of gollum...

yo dummy, the hobbit isnt centralized around the ring and gollum ya oss. and the silmarillion (which i doubt you've read) explains the history behind middle earth being a collective of stories assembled by tolkiens son. if he was to have made an extended version, he probly would have before he died.
