@TheJanisam Finally, if you truly believed you would be better off living without our modern convieniences and system of cash, then you wouldn't be here discussing this with me.
You would have found a place where you could be doing this same thing right now. Either living excluded from society in a little cabin er hut you built away from modern society, or in a transcendental society.
-
@TheJanisam I believe even if the worlds economy was taken down, a new one would be set up shortly after, may it be from precious metals or trading useful utilities. But if someone doesn't have those utilities to trade, they'll no undoubtedly steal, or even kill someone for survival. Oh and your argument about the Inca's is incorrect, if I remember anything about early North American civilization from US history, the Incans had an economy based around scarce items like salt.

@TheJanisam By the way, that's not why I asked you if you think you could survive in this scenario. I asked because I know I can live without my tv, or my laptop, or cars, I'm physically fit and almost never eat fast food. But if it came down to it--I probably wouldn't make it without dying of disease, starvation, or being killed for whatever small possessions I have. It doesn't matter if you are a thief now, if it came down to it you would no doubt steal to keep yourself, or family alive.

@TheJanisam disestablishing our current economy and conveniences, to set up a civilized community. Even then, civilized or not... Anybody who thinks fighting will stop, and everyone will live together happily ever after in their transcendental society is sadly mistaken.
As far as fighting, things will be just as bad, if not, more brutal. Ancient societies always sooner or later had problems fighting for living space,

@TheJanisam You hardly answered the first part of the question. It hardly matters that people in past civilizations lived without a currency of their own. The fact is, that now all of our governments are run by our economy. As for current countries without a strong economy backing it up, sure there are people living contempt lives... But those same people
starve for education, and pray for their future generations to live better. It would take at least half a millennium, of slowly...

.. The US likes to call it self the greatest country and nation in the world with its culture of fear and weapons use and the biggest economy of the world but as we all know that its country full of crime and poverty. So obviously the system fails and does not serve people as it should. Instead people serve the system which is an abomination.
I'm not a thief, nor am I lazy, so I think I would get by just fine without the awfully misleading concept of paper bills controlling my life.
-
.. hands full of gold and glitter, a cellphone and the internet. That is probably why you asked me if I had what it takes to survive..
In countries where people are satisfied with their life theres no need for crime..
-
Well for starters life is not a movie scenario..
People lived without money for thousands of years it's just a case of getting used to the idea. It is not impossible to organize a society without it, the Inca did it.
The problem probably with you is that you think that you need your 100cm flatscreen and a SUV and KFC to survive, to be a whole man to feel like someone. Well I'd say if you have or acquire knowledge of growing your own food and a craft of somekind that you do not need
-
@TheJanisam What do you suppose will happen if all of the worlds currency slowly disestablished over the next 20 years? How will people get their food, and how will crime be regulated? Do you think you would have what it takes to survive, if so how. reply to this comment with a minimum of 3 full comments(1425 characters).
Looks like all those years of persuasive essays in English class will finally come to use :).

utter and complete bullshit..
Food for thought, without money, government wouldn't be organized at all and people would just steal from one another, too lazy to do the work that keeps society the way it is. I for one would definitively rather live in 2011 then thousands of years ago before currency. Have you guys ever watched one of those apocalyptic movies where people board up their front doors and EVERY family is awake every second afraid for their lives? Well if our money suddenly disappeared that's what would happen.

Actually it's the love of money that's the root of all evil.
