This is the third campaign mission in Starcraft II. The goal of this mission is to defend your base and survive till the air support can evacuate you. This first run through is on Normal difficulty in order to get the "Hold the Line" achievement for not losing one building/structure during the mission. I will be running through this mission twice and posting both videos. The next video will be in Hard mode to get the "The Best Defense..." achievement. I have not been able to do all three achievements in one play through of Hard Mode for this mission... yet... I will keep trying just in case I do get it. But for now, this is the normal mode run through, and the Hard mode will be next.I have also cut some bits from this video, there are a few places where I was just watching my patrolling units defend against attacking zerg. Since there is nothing I actually had to do during these parts, I cut them down to get the video to fit within the YouTube 15 minute time limit. Also, if you missed them, you can find Mission 1 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8W8uqPpJxGU and Mission 2 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cM8TXh8YZLY Both are in hard mode with all achievements completed.

For this mission, I start by immediately having my SCV's start mining, as well as putting 4 marines into each of the bunkers that are facing the bridges to the north and to the east of my base. I also queue up 5 more scv's and have them set to rally at the crystals so they will automatically start mining when they come out. I ignore the inner bunkers that lead to the upper floor of my base where the HQ and barracks are, because if the enemy gets that far, I have already lost structures and will not be getting the achievement anyway. So when starting, you have two groups of 8 marines. 1 group near each bridge. Grab 4 marines from each group and have them man the existing bunkers near the bridges. Take the remaining 8 marines and combine them into a squad, and assign a shortcut key to it (I assign them to the 1 key on my keyboard).

Once you have your initial group of 8 marines, head out of the east side bridge as that will be the side of the map where you have to rescue the first group of trapped marines. You can kill the zerg guarding that area early so you don't have to worry about them later. As you can see in the video, I have them clear out the zerg (always attack move, when moving your groups of marines) and then grab the Vespene and Crystal pallets that are in the area, then you can have them hang out for awhile waiting for the first side mission to save the trapped marines, at which point you will already have killed the zerg that were trapping them, and you can just add those marines to your squad.

The rest of this walkthrough is posted on the SideWinder Blog here: http://sidewinderblog.com/2010/08/19/in-action-starcraft-2-mission-3-zero-hou...
