Acela overtaking Amtrak Crescent on 8/11/08

Acela Express overtaking Amtrak's Crescent on Northeast Corridor just north of Baltimore, MD as viewed from inside the last car on the rear of the Crescent.

Both were headed south. Timetables from that timeframe will show the Acela overtaking the Crescent along this stretch... for the Acela, a later departure from Wilmington and an earlier arrival in Baltimore than the Crescent. Afterall, the Crescent is a considerably slower train, and almost inevitably, an Acela would catch up to it at some point between NYC and DC.

@phantomlord54 Same here, but something tells me that it was designed to only do 160 max. That means that Amtrak would have to buy a few ZEFIRO trains from Bombardier in order to exceed 200 MPH.

@kmillard The heritage cars are good for 110mph on the NEC. This location is just south of Elkton, Maryland. 19 is on 1 track which is rated for 110mph and and the high speed is on 3 which is rated for 130mph on the curve.
