@phantomlord54 Same here, but something tells me that it was designed to only do 160 max. That means that Amtrak would have to buy a few ZEFIRO trains from Bombardier in order to exceed 200 MPH.

@kmillard The heritage cars are good for 110mph on the NEC. This location is just south of Elkton, Maryland. 19 is on 1 track which is rated for 110mph and and the high speed is on 3 which is rated for 130mph on the curve.

which direction were you headed in bcuz the acela was going the same way u were.

Both were headed south. Timetables from that timeframe will show the Acela overtaking the Crescent along this stretch... for the Acela, a later departure from Wilmington and an earlier arrival in Baltimore than the Crescent. Afterall, the Crescent is a considerably slower train, and almost inevitably, an Acela would catch up to it at some point between NYC and DC.
