anyway mphanlon turd, its not a fact of him being the BEST player of all time. Its the fact of Jose being THE most versatile player in baseball when being utility wasnt really a necessity as it is now. He paved the way for guys like DeRosa, Theriot, Miles, etc. Back then the utility guy was just another dude that like you say was average at best. However, in hindsight he could play ANY position when needed including catcher so that he may help out almost more than the average player

Jose had whitey as a coach, He would send me grandmother with a walker! That's baseball. He is Larussa's heir apparent. He wants this team that is why he turns down other offers.

I'm a die hard Cardinal fan, born and raised, but it's crap like this that has people thinking Oquendo is more than who he is. And who is Jose Oquendo? He was an above average fielder, an average hitter AT BEST, a terrible pitcher(check his career ERA), and an awful 3rd base coach(watch Suppan running over at 3rd in 2004 W.S., not Soup's fault) Of course I liked Oquendo when I was growing up but he is an overrated player by Cards fans. You want to get an STL fav in the hall of fame, focus on #51
