A few years ago now, my friend Pete helped me transfer some old reel-to-reel tapes of the family's to a digital format.
My great-auntie Nan used to send 'letters' on these tapes over to Mum all the way from Scotland - this one is from sometime after Helen was born, but before Lisa arrived, so between 1967 to 1969. I'll have to ask Mum for an exact date.
The audio isn't the best, and there's just the one photo to look at so far (I'm going to search Mum's place for some photos of Nan). However, if you tune your ears in to the Scottish accent and listen very carefully, you should be able to understand much of what she is saying. If you don't have any luck - skip to 2:40 and listen to her sing a little song. A train goes by just before she ends her song... Aunty Betty is in this recording as well.
There's more of these, however, I may get the real movie makers in the family to help me make up the rest!
This is for the members of my family who remember Nan, and those who have heard stories about her.
I just dug out the rest of the tapes - a couple would have Grandpa on them. I'll bring all the tapes/the gear over and you can have a go at recording them on to the PC.
