Riding some nice pre-Westinghouse Schindler elevators from the mid-80's. These elevators have bronze touch-buttons with engraved floor markings.

  • This is now Schindler ID!!!

  • The ship "Majesty of the Seas" had elevators similar to these as well.

  • It seems that Schindler was oddly better off without Westinghouse. THOSE BUTTONS ARE THE BEST EVER!!

  • Wow, so pre Westinghouse Schindler is amazing. This elevator hardware is almost entirely Euro/Asian spec.. the buttons, the chimes (the actual chime, not the 'let's make the Westinghouse Chime sound like Schindler' and even the door sills...

  • I WAS ON THE NORDIC EMPRESS TOO!!! That was a very nice ship but the cabins needed TLC, but overall I remember the elevators with those fixtures too!

  • Wow, these are very nice! I really like those touch buttons and chimes, there european!! That voice is also interesting as well. And I did see these fixtures on one cruise ship elevator video as well, I also saw them on a cruise I was on a long while back. the Nordic Empress.

  • This is also a rare type of displaying express zone in high-rise elevators.

    Most express-zone displays:

OTIS: EZ, or EXPRESS ZONE (in a yellow natural display like those found in Eureka Tower, Australia)

Schindler: X (In the new Schindler 7000s with Miconic 10 in NYC Marriott Marquis, it displays XX)

  • I LOVE those fixtures. everytime i see them i am reminded of the boat nordic empress
