Most martial artists, depending on the style of martial arts, must master various kicking and striking techniques. Martial arts techniques offer martial arts competitors the ability to score on an opponent. Basic kicks such as the side kick, front kick and push kick are excellent for competition but are very practical for self-defense situations such as a street fight. Learning these basic kicks is fairly easy especially with martial arts tips from a black belt who teaches martial arts instructors how to teach. Learn how to do various martial arts kicks in this free video series featuring World Champion eighth-degree black belt and martial arts instructor John Graden. Graden demonstrates how to do a knee strike, how to do a front kick, how to do a side kick and how to practice these kicks on a kick shield along with self defense escapes, hand strikes for sport and self defense along with martial arts workout routines to help keep you motivated for exercise.

Here's a great drill to teach you how to disguise your attack to land your kicks on your opponent more often! "Hi everybody I'm John Graden for the Martial Arts Teachers Association. Movement is just so critical, why is movement so critical? It helps you to disguise your attack, it helps you to disguise the initial motion. Here's a great example, one that I've used with super success, in the Dojo and on the highest levels of kick boxing in the world. So this has worked over and over for me. It's what I call a flow into kicking drill. We know from past lessons that as I move to the left, the left foot leads, so I'm kind of getting into this step, drag left, and step, drag right motion. Sometimes I'll set my opponent up by sliding to the right, using the step drag, and then going to the left. Watch this, I'm going to do three steps and on the third one I'm going to fire somebody. One, two, three, pow right into the kick. Watch again, slow motion. He sees that, that's natural, he sees that, he's developing a sense of the rhythm, he sees that, he's expecting this foot to come back to position here. Instead, as soon as this foot touches, I fire off a round kick or a front kick or a hook kick. And it buys me a beat, what beat? That beat, that beat, that beat. So that gets the weapon to him faster so we're using movement and flow to disguise that initial motion. This was a flow into a kick drill and it works regardless if you are doing tae kwon do, karate, kickboxing, mma, kenpo or any other striking art, I'm John Graden, if you'd like more information please contact me at John Graden dot com, thanks."
