After a long day on the trails, it was time for a hot meal. We prepared this steak dinner over an open campfire with a Lodge Logic Grill Pan. A couple of steaks littered with fresh herbs sizzled away, then green pepper and onions were added.
Being able to use the cast iron directly on the open flames and coals is as much fun as it is a great way to cook food.
Perhaps some foraging for wild herbs is in your future? Try it!

  • Man, that steak just yells for a great red wine to go with it. Cheers!

  • @Coaljet in it, on it, and with it!

  • Oh man, You should have taken those fresh herbs and made a sauce with wine, butter, and pan drippings.

Salt and pepper the steaks, then quickly cook on a searing hot pan. Remove steaks and let rest.

Deglaze the pan with about half a cup (or more) red wine and use a wooden spoon (or other heat proof implement) to dissolve all the pan drippings.

Next add the herbs and simmer for a minute or two to thicken a little. Add some butter at the end to finish the sauce... ENJOY!

  • @Kevitivity I'll need more pockets

  • Ah the summer sound of cicadas & meat cooked over a campfire is all pretty close to heaven if you ask me.

  • @CampfireTalk speaking of cicadas, I need to see if any broods emerge this season. They starred as back up singers in many videos on YT.

  • Man this is making me want to go camping just to use the cast iron!!!!

  • @Kevitivity Man, that sounds GREAT! I'm copying your posting to try it next weekend. Thanks!

  • @usframe Reckon why that is? Must have something to do with the aneling process. Anyhow, I seasoned one iron skillet a long time ago when the instructions were stamped into the bottom. But I haven't since and they all work fine and turned black like a good cast iron skillet sould.

  • I have a Lodge Logic set - They are great :--))

  • @TheHomeDefender the next month or so will be a mix of old and new for sure. Especially the stuff that was linked to Websites, and the reviews for the upcoming auctions.
