This is a trumpet solo I put on my senior composition recital as played by AJ Keller. Here's the program notes...

I was talking with my friend AJ about an interesting compositional idea, namely the creation of a solo piece for a player who is no longer entirely committed to the study of that instrument. We took it one step further and also created specifications for the performer of the piece as well as the location of the performance. For example, in this trumpet solo, the player needs to have played the trumpet in high school but now only plays for conducting classes. He must be a vocal music education major who is 5 feet 6 inches tall. The performance must be from a place higher than the main stage. Based on these specifications, this may be the only time, ever, that this piece will be performed!
