Not a fan of Deere in general, but I do love those big two-pot engines. Especially when the revs come down and the torque comes up, thumpa thumpa thumpa.

Unbelievable torque! Love it when the sidewalls start wrinkling up on the tires.
-
pistons the size of paint cans! gotta love the ol 2 cylinders.

@chevyisjunk i love chevy
-
That was an ironic comment. :-)

Because they sound good at idle. to answer a former question. :)

How come people never take these tractors out of idle?

@motocross19916 What you hear as it is pulling is its full-rated rpm. The 820 makes full power at 1125 rpm. The earlier model R that it replaced, made full power at only 1000 rpm.

@Possumlivingdotcom
The 820 replaced the 80.
The lineage went R...80...820 ...830
Great big heavy duty tractors that mainly saw duty in wheat and rice country

@OzzInter Love 'em. My favorite is the R, but I rarely see one of them. Around here the 820 and 830 are most common, and even they are pretty rare.

@Possumlivingdotcom over all the 80 is the rarest because it was made only in 1955 and 1956. the R ran from 1949 to 1954
