Scientology is big on definitions. If you cannot explain, rationally, your meaning, they will not answer. The meaning of a cult, according to LRH, is a closed group (in which people are not able to join or be in contact with those outside) that share a common interest. That is what the man wanted you to say. What you should have said is "A religious group deemed to be false, with it's members often living in an unconventional manner under an authoritarian, charismatic leader (like LRH)"
