Nothing special, this and 3 other nearby dams are slated for demolition. Just took a few quick vids before it's too late.
I tried to show the portholes but they're hard to see through the water.

I have 1000's of pics and lots of video, and I'm getting more all the time. Lots more to come....
"Bloede's Dam is believed to be the world's first submerged electrical generating plant that was housed under water inside the shell of a dam. Victor G. Bloede, the same chemist and entrepreneur who created the Water Works at Avalon, hired electrical engineer Otto Wonder to oversee the development of this unique hydroelectric dam that is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

  • I remember walking inside of this dam when I was younger. It's all sealed up now with concrete.

  • @heepofsheep72 we used to slide down the dam when we were kids we used to jump of tower that was in the middle of dam...crazy times 79-80

  • We have something like this at milkneeley lake in KY..

  • @stormtrooperpaintbal -We can only hope I'm wrong.... actually this dam's removal has run into some snags because it's on the National Historical List. Hopefully it will not be torn down!

  • @BaltimoreAndOhioRR i dont think so. here it is today 7-26-10 and we just got done sliding off it and the rope swing right up the river

  • @heepofsheep72 You mean that you illegally trespassed on park property in order to slide down the dam. The dam is posted.
