Saying that VY Canis Majoris is a billion times larger than our own sun, is an understatement as I see it. With a radius that is between 1800-2100 the radius of our own sun, it is at least 5.8 billion times as large as our sun.
Curiously enough, it only has a mass that is 40-50 times larger than our sun, though. So that makes the star less impressive.

@SinDawg030 I'm not an astronomer dude! or an astrofisic or whatever you call it! I just like astronomy, obveserving and learning new things of the universe. When I first saw this video I was overwhelmed by the size of this star that I, with my "not so great" astronomical knowledge, assumed it was bigger than our galaxy. I don't know much of the universe but YES I do know the difference between a galaxy and a solar system, I would love to explain it but basically you already know.

@SinDawg030 beat me to it! =(

@xDaNiEldrummerx *facepalm*. You obviously can't tell the difference between a galaxy and a solar system.
