You're missing the point completely. His discussion of the female comedians was in response to his original argument. His first essay on the topic was a discussion as to why women in general are not funny.
It's as if you think Hitchen's was belittling the ability of the female comedian's discussed to be funny and that's why he thinks women are not funny. He's actually saying the complete opposite...

That's not what he did, and you're missing the point. If you want to prove that women can be funny, start a wave and try to be funny yourself. You can't argue with simplle observations about the world we live in, and stating things the way they are, but you can try to change it if you want.

I know many women who are co workers, my wife, and her friends and I feel like a have to laugh when they are trying to be funny when it really is not funny. Dont get me wrong they do crack a funny and a gain and I really do laugh. I find female stand up comedians, again not all of them, think its funny to talk about 'their period' or 'PMT'. The funniest female comedian I know is Joe Brand. Its true what Hitchens says about looks and female comedians as I could not laugh as much
