Problem Gamer, Ep. 5: "Sonichosis" (pt.1)

"Sonichosis, Part 1" begins a 3-part chronicle of my Sonic 2 addiction, in the best way I know how: by getting all the chaos emeralds in Zone 1. Thats right, Emerald Hill Zone will live up to its name as it coughs up the 7 elusive gems, turning me into Super Sonic!

How is this possible? Well, youll just have to watch this 10-minute feature (and the next two!) for the answer.

I really went all-out with this one, and I just hope I could do justice to my favourite game of the 16-bit era. Give 90s Sonic all my love; he deserves no less.

Hi, I too grew up on the Sonic games (though for me it was MegaDrive not Genesis - greetings from the UK). Sonic 2 was my favourite as a kid, as the only Sonic games I had originally were 1 & 2, and could only play the others round friends houses. After a while, I bought Sonic 3 and S&K, but this game is still my favourite, because of those hours I spent as a kid playing it. I didn't ever get all the emeralds in the first level, but remember getting them all during Chemical Plant Zone.

I was in quite the same boat as you, even across the globe :P Yes, getting them in Chemical Plant was the earliest I knew how to do for quite some time, too. But with time comes ... well, you know. And now Sonic 2's in my DNA :D

Well thanks for now setting me the challenge. I now have to get all the emeralds in the appropriately named Emerald Hill Zone :P I tried a few times, but keep messing up the third special stage, which of course means I have to go reset my MegaDrive. BTW I did know a trick to get up to that really high lamppost. Unfortunately, I have forgotten it. ( I blame my Mum for this, she sold our MegaDrive when we got our Playstation;-(, so I had to buy back my collection and forgot a lot of the tricks)

I think I played Sonic 2. Man I love that Sega thing. And I used to play Megaman I could never beat the bosses. -_- I blame my friends.

I love Megaman too, maybe even equally.. it's just a different kind of game. They don't really have to compete for my heart :)

Yea megaman was fun but I don't own it cause there's really no point in playing it if I can't beat the first boss.

Honestly though, it does make things more fun with Tails around.

That's awesome, and I don't use that word lightly. I never played Sonic 2 long enough to get anywhere near as good, as I had to go to an after school club to play it, but I don't think I could ever get that good.
