my home orchard is far form perfect. It has suffered a lot of neglect during the years we were traveling to exhibit at curriculum fairs and school book fairs during the spring and summer. Now we are home most of the time. WE added some new trees to replace those we put in years ago that died from gopher and deer attacks. The new trees are in gopher cages and have fences around them. The old trees don't seem to need a lot of help from us, or it's too late for them. Nevertheless, we get lots of walnuts and apples most years.

  • A very nice quince tree - we have planted a young one and also have three young quince bushes - they make a very good liqueur. Also, a fantastic almond tree - wish we could have one but I think the winters are too cold here in Poland (I will have to check). We do have an ornamental almond which does grow but always gets hit by the frost unless we cover it.
