Artist Sue Raccanello demonstrates how she creates a sketch using Derivan Liquid Pencil Rewetable, 300gsm watercolour paper and a 1/2" dagger brush. Just add water for this cute trio!

  • Can't do same with sumi-e ink because this is liquid graphite; has a texture and shine sumi-e ink does not have. Liquid pencil is pliant because it's not black but mid-grey. It means less mistakes, more variety of work. You can see the exact tint you use, no guessing it like with black sumi-e with water added. Unlike sumi-e, you start from mid-grey and then go up and down the tonal scale by adding more ink or lifting it up with water. There are permanent & re-wettable versions of liquid pencil.
