A Texas teacher will lose her job after ordering more than 20 kindergartners to line up and hit a classmate accused of being a bully, a district spokesman said Friday. (June 15)

Be realistic, not moralistic. You don't impress a bully with mature behaviour. He will laugh and do the same thing again and again to gain attention / your "mature behaviour".

Most teachers aren't even interested of what happens in recess. If a child hits another child they react as you presumed: "mature", talking to the bully reprimanding him verbally. It doesn't work. The bullies mother should be the one decried, not the teacher that did her job: teaching a lesson to a mislead little prick.

Im on the fence with this one. While I believe that violence +violence= violence and that its wrong to teach your kid that hitting them is okay I also believe that lessons in letting the child feel just as bad as the other kid is okay also. Maybe it could have been handled better. However the kid doesnt seem horribly damaged by it. The mother is just pissed off. Hopefully the kid did learn a lesson.

In some countries around the world they have 6 year old soldiers. Don't use age an excuse to let kids get away with actions like this. A child is never to young to learn how to become a functioning member of society.

This should be a mandatory disciplinary action. The kid wants to fuck around, I say fuck him up. If you use your so called "mature verbal action", he'll continue anyway thinking "they won't do anything about it." In the long run, he'll grow up bullying more and more people.
