hate to break it to you armenians but armenian kanon technique is about 100 years behind the level of today's turkish kanun players. look up halil karaduman, goksel baktagir, aytac dogan, tamer pinarbasi, tahir aydogdu, erhan beydanol, the list is long. they also don't put a stupid synthesizer behind their music and call it "traditional". the best armenian kanun player was artaki candan, who lived in istanbul about 100 years ago.

not only that, armenians dumbed down the instrument by removing most of the mandals so that one can not play the microtones used to play the makams, which form the modal system of all true near eastern musics, including the byzantine. so if you want to hear how kanun is supposed to be played, listen to an arab or turk play it, not armenians, kurds, or other fake people with fake blond hair who think they are europeans.
