An old machine running on a Monday through the north end of LA county. Operated by Marios Trucking, on the recycling route. Very friendly crew. The only reason we found these guys is that they were broken down for a while on the side of the road in an industrial area. Pure luck we happened to see them from the main road. After a bit the mechanics fixed the issue (looked to be something with the brakes) and on we went. They only had these 3 stops before finnishing the route so we made the most of it. I cant even explain how nice it is to see something older than myself, still operational in California. Sean and I had seen this trucks cruising through San Fernando about 4 months ago and I often thought about how nice it would be to be able to film this truck... luck was on our side and sure enough I got to film it. I dont see many years left in this trucks life so I'm very happy to have found it when I did. Hope you all enjoy this as much as I did
Sorry for the shaking, it makes the video annoying as hell for me to watch back. Its because I was running through hills chasing an LA City trucks just before we found this one so I was incredibly tired

  • A Kenworth! Haven't seen too many up here as garbage trucks and you got yourself a Maxon as well... top job on the catch. Got an interesting higher pitched sound to this engine; sounds sweet in gear. Funny hearing her screaming and watching the packer and arms crawling! lol Old under-container pockets, that must be something harder to find now... CalMet'd be the only hauler I could think of where I've seen them with this set-up recently. Nice footage of an oldie.

  • @MitchellM15 yep! I love these trucks. Yea, I was a bit bummed that the sound wasnt quite as deep as others lol Being from SoCal, about half the haulers in LosAngeles and many in Orange County where I'm from, still use under dumpster pockets. Thats pretty much only a West Coast thing. The only thing I'd like to see different in this truck is to have the driver be more agressive when applying throttle during cycles. He eases into it so little at a time you miss out on the deep initial roar!

  • I tip my hat to you Mike! I've seen that truck before in San Fernando, I'm super glad you were able to get it. I like this thing alot, one of my favorite engines, and cabs. I love the Kenworth Rustler! As for the Legal One Scott, yes there have been ones with followers, in fact I have video of one with a follower.

  • @shadofax96 So Rustler is the model name? My favorite chassi prior to this had been the 310 since I grew up to it, and had no experience with Kenworths. But Im pretty sure this is my favorite chassi now! Do you happen to know if there are any other Kenworths anywhere in LA County? If so I'm highly interested in finding one. This truck really sparked my interest in filming FLs again. All I get by my house are boring as hell new trucks.

  • now that is a bitchin truck. i dont care its old and slow, thats was when trash trucks where trash trucks. and the best part, they didnt try to shine her up, dents, scratches and paint missing. good catch, peice of history that is long forgotten

  • @AAWNM couldnt agree more! I always have had a personal liking for older equipment over the new stuff, and was thrilled to find this still running, especially in Cali! The emmissions laws here are rediculous. I havnt got a clue how this truck is allowed to be operated here with all the fumes it puts out. damn near choked myself following it between stops! LOL

  • Still goin when others have long gone...great catch Mike, love old FLs.

  • Wow this truck is old. It seems like it is about near the end of its service life.

  • @3amrepmike3 I don't know of any particularly. I'm always on the look out for them too just in case. I know that there are some Kenworths out in the desert sitting in used truck yards that picked them up from MG Disposal who had a whole fleet of Kenworth/Maxon Legal One trucks. Keep your eyes peeled, you never know what kinds of gems you'll find on the freeways.

  • @Trashman242 yep, the first thing I noticed about this truck was the spacing between the ribs on the body. Almost put something about that in the description but didnt
