1999 1.8T threw a CEL (Check Engine Light) and started revving itself at random times especially at idle. It was also hard to start after every fill up and had to hold the gas down while cranking to get it to start....

VagCom said,

-P0116; ECTC (Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit/Sensor) range performance,
-P0102 MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensor) sporadic, flow circuit; low input.
-P0441 EVAP (Evaporative Emission System) incorrect; purge flow.
-P1544 Angle Sender 1 for throttle valve sporadic; signal too high.
-P0123 TPS (Throttle Pedal Position Sensor/ Switch) sporadic, signal too high.

Started by cleaning air filter and checking MAF which is about 8 months old and no problems with either, also no change.

checked for vacuum leaks with Starting Fluid, sprayed all possible lines and intake boots. no audible change in idle.

changed the turbo pressure regulator,

no change.

Changed (N80) purge regulator valve

http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B5_A4-FWD-1.8T/Search/Purge/ES6114/

no change.

bought and changed OEM temperature sensor

http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B5_A4-FWD-1.8T/Search/Temp_Sensor/ES2832/

and BAM!! all problems SOLVED. no more codes, all working within parameters. apparently even if i had not changed the other two valves it would have worked, but at 130K it was a good time to change them before they failed.

Hope this helps anyone out there with the same problem as me, all information is provided as-is where-is and assume no liability.
