Bernard Lavilliers, c'est d'abord une voix au service des poètes qui a transplanté l'esprit de Léo Ferré dans l'univers du rock. Si la poésie du baroudeur s'est adoucie avec le temps , il reste fidèle aussi bien à ses origines ouvrières, à ses combats de boxeur, à ses cicatrices carcérales qu'à ses rencontres de l'exil. Marginal mais solidaire, il chante la beauté des peuples et la laideur des pouvoirs. Grand bourlingueur, Lavilliers navigue de Saint-Etienne à Saint-Malo, de Kingston à New-York, du Brésil à l'Angola. Sa musique chaloupée voyage entre mélodies tristes et morsures rock, entre reggae rebelle et funk lascif, entre salsas endiablées et bossas alanguies. Comme les Causes perdues, ces musiques tropicales viennent de partout et s'emmêlent avec passion pour dénoncer les états d'urgences, les rapaces de la finance et les chiens de guerre. Pour chanter aussi le champ des possibles et de l'utopie.

Sur scène, ce chanteur physique s'entoure de musiciens hors pairs pour balancer un mélange de sueurs et de saveurs, de fièvres et de fêtes, de coups de sang et de coups de blues.

Net als de Causes perdues, de verloren zaken, zijn deze tropische klanken van overal en ze vermengen zich om hartstochtelijk de noodtoestand uit te roepen en de gieren van het geldwezen en de haviken van de oorlog aan te klagen. Om te zingen over wat wel mogelijk is en over de utopie.

While the fighter's poetry may have mellowed with time, he has remained faithful to his working-class origins, to his combats in the boxing ring, to his prison scars and his encounters with life in exile. Living on the margins but united in solidarity with the downtrodden, he has sung about the beauty of indigenous peoples and the ugliness of the powers that be. A great traveller, LAVILLIERS has journeyed from Saint Etienne to Saint Malo, from Kingston to New York, from Brazil to Angola. His rolling music swerves between sad melodies and biting rock, between rebellious reggae and lazy funk, between devilish salsas and languorous bossa novas. His latest album Causes perdues et musiques tropicales draws on music from everywhere and passionately blends several strains in order to denounce states of emergency, the predators of high finance and the dogs of war. And also to sing about the realms of the possible and about utopias.

On stage, this physical singer is joined by unmatched musicians to produce a mixture of sweat and savours, fevers and festivity, outbursts of anger and a dose of the blues.
