this is the intro from a TCM TV doc on the life of Errol Flynn. I love this clip. Flynn was one of my heros in "old movies" as a small boy in the 60's and 70's. This guy created the mold that Johnnie Depp has had so much fun breaking.
Flynn would have absolutely approved.

  • @1965guitarboy ...that's funny!

  • was that a wig or his real hair . he is my idol god he was awesome

  • @thedoors360 Don't know....both maybe? You know, his hair 'worked up' for the movies. Hollywood hairdressers could probably do anything with anything.

  • Forty-five years later and I'd still trade my bike and my baseball glove to be like Flynn. Just give me a sword and a rope and show me the bad guys!

  • @barryb83110 Haha. Me too!

  • It took a man like Flynn to push forward the action movie genre, during the early talking picture period. Watching him, I think they selected him as a great personality for the screen, rather finding a guy they can mold into an actor. That's why the present day generation of leading men fall short. They ,as men, are not big enough, not grand enough, not powerful enough. They are trained monkeys by comparison to Flynn. That sonuvabitch....

  • He played the piano using his dick. Legend.

  • that roguish smile of his the moment he says his name, even at 40 or 50 something!

  • Flynn had the "IT" factor. Looks, charm, wit, acting chops, athletic skill-- all showed up on screen then and still do just as strongly today. Flynn led such an interesting life prior to his acting career (indeed some of his tales are yarns) and IMO all his experiences and inborn traits came together to lend a solid credibility to his action films that still hold up 70+ years later. Such acting attributes cannot be replicated or produced through CGI.

  • his ghost is allegedly kind of an asshole

  • @errolfan AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...yes.

  • @1inaMillion917 I still think that Johnny Depp could do it, if he decided to get serious. Jon Hamm? Maybe. These studio classics from the 30's and 40's would be a hard sell on today's moviegoers who only crave special effects. To this day, Errol Flynn IS the best of any swashbucklers in Hollywood before or since.

  • @Romulusorion Let me guess, he owes you money too.

  • @Starfighterking He's Australian, actually.

  • @mickeeteeze Thank you.
