Shadowbox, originally Hell Comes to Frogtown, headlines at The Attic which was the 6th largest nightclub in the Southeast in October of 1991.
This show was to celebrate Shadowbox's 1st place finish in the Escape from Emerald City Battle of the Bands where the group defeated 22 other bands to take the top spot.
Performing in front of a crowd of approximately 400 Shadowbox fans, we performed about 60% original songs and 40% covers in our set.
This cover song is a cult classic from the Bloom County cartoon book series. Bloom County fans received a thin record in the books with two songs performed by Bill The Cat's band Billy and the Boingers. The Boingers were originally named Deathtongue but had to change their name due to lawsuits after testifying before Congress during inquisitions conducted by Tipper Gore and the PMRC.
Played at likely twice the natural speed, please enjoy Shadowbox's version of Billy and the Boinger's song 'You Stink But I Love You!"
Shadowbox enjoyed regional radio play and live performance success in Greenville, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Atlantic Beach, and Wilmington NC (1990-1991)
Our demo tape, recorded and produced at Lovette Studios, featured our original songs "Black Cats & Flying Tigers", "Maelstrom", "Alien Angels", and "Full Speed Down"
These songs were crowd favorites along with our punk and blues version of Stand By Me.
Damn that's Awsome! Wish deathtongue had more doings.

It was Deathtöngue (yes, an umlaut over the "o"). This actually was pretty close except the bassist had to do Opus's two-note tuba solo.
Also, the title was "U-Stink-But-I-♥-U".
