Secret Identities editor-in-chief Jeff Yang describes how the editorial staff made the call to anyone--whether they were professionals or not--to submit story ideas to the anthology. He admits that he wishes there were more Southeast Asian voices in the novel.

SI co-editor Keith Chow says the number one criterion for choosing a story to include in the anthology was that it had to be good.

Moderator Anne Ishii asks the panelists about critics' initial skepticism over the project. Writer Greg Pak says he doesn't like being pressured to do stories about positive Asian role models and prefers to create flawed heroes. He feels that critics' demands for positive role models are reminiscent of how some African American critics would blast Spike Lee for not properly representing the black community in his earlier Spike Lee joints.

Footage shot by SI contributor Jimmy J. Aquino. Edited by Thelma Schoonmaker.
