Using ball ammo for each caliber I fired directly down into identical books, to see what the penetration would be. The debate will never end. Is the 9mm the best because it's the only one that went through? Or, is the .45 the best because it stayed inside, where it would have dispersed all of it's energy in the target? Who knows......at the end I put a couple of rounds through it with my 10mm Hollow-points.

  • So are they all hollow point bullets?

  • @fergyjr2001 It's called reading. From left to right, top to bottom. Group words together to make a sentence. Start by practicing in the DESCRIPTION. Tylenol for headaches.

  • 230 grain 45 hollow point any kind is going to have more knock down then any popular pistol round. I know about 44 mag and .50 but realistic carry? I don't know anyone who packs around dirty hairy or a heavy ass desert eagle. My 2 cents

  • @utahbigdodge Usually true, but a lot of people cannot put a .45 where they need it to be, time after time. Shot placement is always key! In my opinion the 9mm and .45 ALMOST even out. When you compare the speed of the bullet, and the weight of the bullet the 9mm isn't far behind. :)

  • @trekbsg There are so many factors though. In some cases....having a round that penetrates more could be a huge benefit...why wait for them to put their head out the window when you can shoot them through the wall ;)

  • @2323Proverbs Depends on what you're trying to accomplish, if your goal is to stop someone asap, then you want the bullet to transfer all it's kinetic energy to the intended target..if you want to kill said target, then the more open wounds the better for faster bleed-out, but could take minutes before assailant drops..not the best scenario if you're under attack.

  • @2323Proverbs thats true for longer term, it will stop them (die from blood loss) but the term stopping power (from my understanding) is to stop them from whatever they are doing the energy transfer is supposed to put them in a state of shock, which im guessing triggers the flight response.

  • i think the 9mm has a deeper penetration because of its small fast bullet, whereas a .40 can reach around the same speeds it has a larger heavier bullet so it is fighting the friction alittle more. the 45 is an example of a fat slow bullet, they are all good man stoppers as long as you get good shot placement

  • Great video, you can make a comparison of 9 mm vs .38 super. I trie to find a video like that but i don´t found nothing and would be very interesting to see the results.

  • @utahbigdodge Thanks! I had some extra books lying around, had to find a good way to take care of them ;)

  • @2323Proverbs It's possible. Blood loss is a great factor towards incapacitation of an aggressor, but it isn't the only way to bring something down. A bullet that does not exit that inflicts more internal injury could also be the way to win the fight. No two bullets will ever hit the exact same way though....so many factors come into play ;) Your overall shooting fundamentals are what is going to win the fight, in my opinion.
