"de los alamos vengo madre" - juan vasquez (1500-1560)

De los alamos vengo madre,
De ver como los menea el ayre,
De los alamos de sevilla,
De ver a mi linda amiga.

i return from being under/near/by the poplars, mother,
from seeing them being moved by the wind,
from the poplars in seville,
from visiting my beautiful girlfriend.

  • Nice music in any case. Sorry if I seemed pompous. J

  • @JoelvanLennep - not a bit of it! regards.

  • How many did Vasquez write? I know of only one. Kindly enlighten.

  • @JoelvanLennep - google "asteria" ("le souvenir de vous me tue.") i played a simple version of their beautiful arrangement. it 's folk music.

  • @JoelvanLennep - the king's singers do a similar version - more or less - although they say it's a girl singing (?)

  • Hm. How does this relate to the setting of De los alamos by Juan Vasquez?

  • @JoelvanLennep - which one?
