Didn't you read "An American Haunting" published in 1195 or so that was originally published in 1848 by Betsy Bell's schoolteacher husband? It explains that Betsy dissociated and was the witch herself as a result of her father's sexual molestation. Read the book, I found it at my library. It includes Andrew Jackson's visit and dialogue. It explains most poltergeist happenings...explains why they're usually pubescent girls.

1195? The event happened in 1820....
I heard that that particular information was just one of the theories put forth....They didn't say that it actually happened, just what they think happened.

Thanks for catching the typo. American Haunting came out in 2005 not 1195. As for the haunting of the Bell family, it began in 1817. John Bell died on Dec. 20, 1820. Once Betsy Bell, the teenage daughter, broke her engagement to Joshua Gardner the day after Easter of 1821, the poltergeist left. It came back for a two-week period in 1828 to visit with Lucy Bell and her two sons still living at home. Then it left for good and never came back.
