  • How hard is it to do a cummins swap i have a 2008 that i my wife just wreck it and i want to docit

  • @lunaarras The newest SuperDuty that I helped swap is a 2006. It was pretty time consuming because of the wiring, and turbo piping. (Compound turbos) You have to pull the cab. I've looked over a friends 2008, and it didn't look easy, but anything is possible.

  • not trying to diss your work, but why put a cummins in a ford? thats why they make powerstroke.

  • @fordracingcody My truck is an 86. The powerstroke didn't come out until 1994 1/2. The powerstroke will bolt in the place of a 6.9, but the wiring is more than I wanted to tackle. The 12 valve Cummins only has a few wires to deal with, because it has a mechanical injector pump. The ease of increasing horsepower is also more appealing with the Cummins, and so is the 20+ mpg that I get on the freeway. The 7.3 powerstroke is pretty good engine, just not my cup of tea.

  • What all was involed in putting that motor in I got a 94 turbo IDI I'm gonna do that to when I get the time I'd like to know what I'm in for

  • @AD4203 It's not too bad if you have some mechanical skill. I used a ZF 5 speed and an adapter plate for the swap, but now I have an NV 4500. I recommend finding a donor Dodge with the trans you want. I used FordCummins mounts, and they worked well. I used a first gen radiator and intercooler, and they fit great. If you have any questions before you get started, feel free to ask. Good luck!

  • @maxhauler Amen... The only thing I'd change is the trans. I'd rather have an NV 4500.

  • great project man. I have both an 88 Ford 7.3 IDI 4x4 and a 93 Dodge Cummins Ram250 2WD and while I love them both the Ford drives really nice and you can feel the quality in the suspension and body. The Cummins engine cannot be beat even though I truely love the sound and more about the IDIs .. so what I'm trying to say is a Cummins in a Ford is a wonderful combination!

  • Rmbone71... Hey thanks for the help man. I like the vid in the desert, the truck sounds wicked. My old '76 was a good truck, had 35's on it, 390ci, had the little tool box built into the bed. Only bad thing was the 203 transfer case had a streached chain, i wound up putting a 205 in it, and the power steering assist leaked so the power steering never worked. The lil cummins is gonna be NiCe

  • @DrMcelroy Great truck for a swap... I grew up with a 76 highboy my dad bought in 79... just click on the rmbone71 and it will show my other videos..
