this is a minor point, but in the Mussolini quote, 'corporatism' doesn't really refer to a system of control by what we refer to today as corporations. Corporatism here is referring to "a system of economic, political, or social organization or thought that views a community as a body based upon organic social solidarity and functional distinction and roles amongst individuals" (Wiki entry).

I just saw Derrick Jensen speak tonight in Ottawa KS. Very inspirational, but only confirmed what I already knew. We are freakin doomed. This sucks because I'm a mother, and I have to paint a picture of the future for my daughter without too much despair. Yet at the same time I have to prepare her to survive somehow. She told me she wouldn't want to anyway, but I'm not sure she has confronted the abyss just yet.
