This trick is done with 2 decks of card. The original, and while the card is signed and everyone focuses on the signiture, the magician switches the remaining deck with a false one which can have a card placed in it and also be collapsed into a small flat card.
Where he has hidden the false-deck is beyond me, thats excellent handling and a very talented illusionist, but the gimmicked deck is common enough to specialty magic stores.
