The BNP claim that they are no longer a racist or Nazi party, but this video shows BNP chairman Nick Griffin stating that the Nazi gas cambers were (in his belief) "a total lie", and admitting that the ultimate aim of the BNP really IS to deport all non-white Britons from the UK. Until everyone in the BNP has the courage to get their own DNA tested by reputable university laboratories, the question of how "white" their ancestry really is remains open to question. As to the other issue, Nick Griffin has consistently defended his deeply offensive, ill-judged and frankly stupid comments about the Holocaust by making excuses about "free speech".
Personally I am GLAD that Nick Griffin enjoys the freedom to expose himself by uttering such total tosh in public; however it's not surprising that Nick Griffin is one of the few people to have actively supported the Nazi apologist, fraudulent historian and Holocaust denier David Irving. David Irving is not a champion of free speech as he is hypocritically portrayed by opportunists like the BNP. In fact David Irving has made a career out of trying to OPPOSE free speech!
In Sept 1996 David Irving filed a libel suit against author Deborah Lipstadt and Penguin Books for publishing a book about him called "Denying the Holocaust", and David Irving sued writer Gitta Sereny for an article she wrote about him in The Guardian newspaper. The case against Gitta Sereny has yet to be heard, but in the Deborah Lipstadt case David Irving offered to drop the action if Penguin agreed to censor the entire book, to deny Deborah Lipstadt's conclusions and to settle out of court, paying him alot of money. Penguin rejected David Irving's terms, the case went to trial, and the court found that Deborah Lipstadt's criticisms of David Irving were "substantially accurate", thus defending Deborah Lipstadt and Penguin's right to speak freely in criticism of David Irving and his fake research.
In 1997 David Irving also threatened to sue writer John Lukacs if he published a book about David Irving called "The Hitler of History", but again John Lukacs stood up for free speech and David Irving backed down. In Oct 2007 David Irving threatened to sue The Jewish Chronicle for describing him as a "Holocaust Denier", the newspaper stood up for free speech, stood its ground, and responded with the bold challenge of printing their solicitor's name and address on its front page - again David Irving backed down. So, not one but FOUR times David Irving tried to prevent free speech and to stop the free press from subjecting his work to fair criticism. One case had yet to be resolved, but in the other 3 cases every time David Irving's attempts to stop free speech have been prevented.
Groups like the BNP only support free speech and democracy in the short term, while those freedoms temporarily offer Fascists like them some chance of gaining political power. When the BNP set-up their HQ in a permanently boarded-up shop in Welling, South East London, the arrival of the BNP was followed by a shocking increase in local knife crimes, including the murders of schoolboys Rohit Duggal, Rolan Adams and Stephen Lawrence. So, exercising their right to free speech, local Trade Unionists organised an anti-BNP meeting in Welling Public Library. Rather than turning up to debate BNP beliefs in a rational manner, paid BNP officials launched an attack in which the BNP used "hammers, pieces of wood, sticks and motorcycle helmets" to discuss BNP policy on "free speech" with a library caretaker and with old and defenceless (white and Asian) women, 17 of whom were hospitalised...

Cases can be made for allowing and denying a debating platform to emotional psychopaths like David Irving and Nick Griffin, but three issues are rarely debated - TACT, COMMON SENSE and the right to SELF-DEFENCE. If any historian was (hypothetically) to tell the parents of children tortured to death by Myra Hindley that their children's murders were figments of their imagination, common sense suggests the (hypothetical) historian would be (either legally or morally) guilty of a terrible psychological assault. The psychological assault committed by Holocaust deniers against relatives of Holocaust victims is millions of times worse, yet debating this disgusting sadism is presented by the media as being almost acceptable! BNP rhetoric about free speech is however just misdirection, used to distract well-meaning liberals from engaging in any real debate about another important issue - society's right to defend itself against Nazi violence.
