Young lovers struggle with family, friends, and society to overcome the stigma of being and interracial couple. To make a statement, they don t-shirts with charged comments that stir up everyone they encounter. Tragically, their mischief turns to mayhem and they must defend themselves against and intollerant mob.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:
Brett Meyer came from a little town called Milford, which is in the southern part of Michigan. To get an idea of it's size, it has two gas stations and two grocery stores to choose from. "It was pretty boring in our little town and I told myself I was going to move to California, live by the beach and then after a year of residency, I would attend school for film". So Brett and a friend packed the car and drove across the country to live the American dream.
After many classes at Long Beach City College, he finally transferred to California State University at Fullerton where he is currently in his senior year. His latest project is Holding Hands. He feels that people should look past the interracial stereotypes of a black and white couple. Though the Civil Rights movement was many years ago, Brett had encountered many snickers and remarks in his past while being a part of an interracial couple. He feels that "Holding Hands" is a great visual for those who can relate to the struggles to overcome societal stigmas. He plans to get this film out to the America public by entering it in more film festivals, with the hope of breaking the barriers and stereotypes of interracial couples.

  • really really n really n again really? ugh this ppl show the wrong image of interracial relationship.....y the t-shirt? i mean the fast food place comment kinda pushed it but really so u met random black n white ppl n they want to kill u really... yes i get it ppl of ur color stare but im sure they dont wanna kill n beat u in public .....this is an insult to ppl in interacial relationships...

WE ARE ALL ONE RACE BUT DIFFERENT COLORS so there is no need of posting this video

  • Deep stuff but this was HIGHLY dramatized and the couple was provoking trouble when most couples who are interracial (trust me I know, dated many white, asian, hispanic, black, etc men in my life) don't do that. The concept is noble, but realistically very outlandish. I would have been more satisfied if it touched on a real issue like that of what issues couples deal with in terms of family/friend perceptions rather than the drama displayed.

  • I don't know about the tee-shirt with the "N" word.I'm all for you guys making light of your circumstances but it seems almost offensive. You look like you are eternally on the defensive.Just shut everyone out and live your life. The fast food incident was toooo much.Come on,guys!!!

  • Good video. The shirts might have over done it and started more than it should have.

  • so much truth in this video..one of my Favorites:)

    Great Job

  • this video is one of the best pieces for film i have ever seen. it shows the world the struggles that these interracial couples in america go through. this was a great film and although this does not happen everyday it has happened. some people cannot comprehend the underlying message that this video. no they are not getting shot and beaten everyday but it doesn't mean that their is not emotional scrutiny is not just as damaging. we are in america the land of the free.its nobody's place to judge

  • WOWWWWWWWWW!!!! Brilliant movie (minus all the cussing). It really highlights issues that are still very real today. Blessings.

  • too much drama... maybe 20 years ago... i think all the sane people got over this type of thing... but there are mostly insane people in the world, so i get it. but the tee-shirts... i would like to see caption that says "very dangerous! please do not try this in real life." good story, but you have to be sensible... because many people (especial in youtube land), are very impressionable.

  • *things

  • I understand this so much I dated a white guy and we went to the mall held hands, hugged, he put his arm around me, all those coupley thongs and I saw people physically stop and stare and it pissed me off they also gave us death stares.

  • Man!!! I was looking forward to see the barbecue D:

  • So she wears a shirt written white power!! Shouldn't the guy have worn one that says black power? XD. This couple has the worst stream of luck, the guy gets assaulted by some black gangbangers and the girl gets assaulted by some skinheads. Well, they kinda aggravated it with the shirts :/
