I actually once mentioned something about Marc on an IDPA club chat board that included lots of LEOs and several of them thought he was an x-con.
What a source of practical knowledge he is.

Just throwing this out there for everyone: Marc MacYoung has a website full of more advice in this vein, with a lot more detail. "No Nonsense Self Defense"
NNSD.com

He's right.
I'm tired of those self-defense-nonsense-discussi
ons of the martial art world.Besides, the world changed: In earlier days, the media was one of the main perpetrator that martial arts was brought into discredit ("it's too dangerous, they are all killers...) Nowadays, it's the community of the martial artists themselves that bring their art into discredit by "teaching" irresponsible self-defense nonsense (not all of them, but most of them), and the media broadcast this aftermath.
Marc MacYoung has been such a positive influence on me, in my private security work and in how I deal with people in general. I don't think there's a single person that could not benefit from seeing him!
<3 U, Animal! xx

It's a shame not that many people know about Animal (at least on the internet, it seems). If more people followed his advice, the world would be a better place.
He completely understands violence like nobody else I've ever seen. And he's so much more than just an instructor... he's a philosopher, a teacher (in life, not just self defence), an academic and, most importantly, a man who wants to help people in different ways.
