What's even more bizarre is that this is not an isolated happenstance... This cat comes running whenever we bring home challah from the store and he hears the plastic bag opening from anywhere in the house. We actually have to hide the challah from him because he will tear open the bag if we leave it unattended.

A) Agreed!
B) Never tried it. I'll have to see and get back to you. There aren't a lot of varieties of challah available in Columbia, Missouri grocery stores, but learning to braid challah is on my list of things to do... we'll see :)
